Matriculation date, venue, and time
- Date: Tuesday, 10 Feb 2026
- Time: 10:00 a.m.
- Venue: New Convocation Arena, University Park, University of Port Harcourt
Seating time and ceremony protocol
UNIPORT directed all matriculating students to be seated at the venue by 8:30 a.m. for orderly proceedings. The programme includes the traditional academic procession by members of the University Senate; students should be in place Early, before the movement begins.
Photography rule inside the Arena
The University placed a ban on photography inside the Arena during the ceremony. Students and guests should take note; that instruction applies for the duration of the event.
What matriculating students must do
UNIPORT listed steps students must complete before and after the matriculation.
1) Print and return the matriculation pledge
Each student must print a copy of the Matriculation Pledge online. After the official Oath is taken at the Arena, the pledge will be signed and then returned to the relevant College Secretary or Faculty Officer (same day, after the ceremony).
2) Collect academic gowns (full-time students)
From Thursday, 29 Jan 2026, full-time students are to go to their Faculty or College with their receipt of school charges to collect academic gowns.
The University stated that students should not make any extra payments for any other document or service at Faculty level; a clear instruction, and it stands.
3) Collect and return outfits (part-time students)
Part-time students are to contact the College Secretary at the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) for the collection and return of their outfits. This instruction covers both pickup and hand-back; no mixing it up.
4) Return gowns by the deadline
All academic gowns must be returned to the Faculty or College no later than Friday, 20 Feb 2026. Who wants a late return issue (and extra back-and-forth)?
UNIPORT urged all students to comply with these directives for a smooth matriculation exercise.
