University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) ACE-CEFOR Opens 2025/2026 Admission for Ph.D. and M.Sc. Programmes

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), through its World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence in Oilfield Chemicals Research (ACE-CEFOR), has announced the commencement of admission for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Established in 2013, ACE-CEFOR is focused on postgraduate training and manpower development in the petroleum and allied industries across Africa. The centre offers internationally accredited graduate programmes designed to build capacity, support sustainable development, and promote high-quality research and professional competence in the oil and gas sector.

Ph.D. Programmes at UNIPORT ACE-CEFOR

The Ph.D. programmes at ACE-CEFOR are structured to engage talented graduates in addressing complex challenges within the petroleum and energy industries. The available doctoral programmes include:

  2. Chemical Engineering
  3. Petroleum/Energy Economics
  4. Geology/Geosciences
  5. Pure and Industrial Chemistry
  6. Plant Science and Biotechnology
  7. Microbiology
  8. Process Engineering
  9. Environmental Technology and Management
  10. Occupational Health and Safety Management
  11. Oilfield Biology
  12. Oilfield Chemistry
  13. Offshore Oilfield Science and Blue Economy

Admission Requirements (Ph.D.)
Candidates must hold a relevant M.Sc. degree from UNIPORT or another accredited university, with a CGPA of 3.5 or above on a 5-point scale, and a minimum of 3.0 CGPA in their first degree.

Programme Duration (Ph.D.)
The doctoral programme runs for 36 calendar months and includes modular taught courses and industry-based research projects.

M.Sc. Programmes at UNIPORT ACE-CEFOR

The Master’s programmes provide advanced training for professionals seeking to enhance their technical and research skills in key areas of oilfield and environmental sciences.

Available M.Sc. programmes include:

  1. Oilfield Chemistry
  2. Oilfield Biology
  3. Offshore Oilfield Science and Blue Economy
  4. Process Engineering

Admission Requirements (M.Sc.)
Applicants must possess a relevant first degree from UNIPORT or any recognised institution with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 5-point scale, along with at least credit passes in Mathematics and English Language at O’Level.

Programme Duration (M.Sc.)
The master’s degree is completed within 12 calendar months of coursework and research.

  2. Fill and submit the online application form.
  3. Attach all supporting documents and proof of payment.
  4. Submit the completed form to the Centre Leader, ACE-CEFOR Office, opposite Choba Police Station, East-West Road, UNIPORT, on or before 30 November 2025.
