UNIPORT Resumption Postponed for 2025/2026 Session
The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced a two-week postponement of academic activities for the 2025/2026 Academic Session. This update concerns all students, parents, and guardians, as well as members of the university community.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the Committee of Provost and Deans held on Friday, October 31, 2025. The Committee reviewed the earlier resumption date of Monday, November 3, 2025, and agreed to shift it to allow for a more orderly start to the session.
Reason for the Adjustment
The adjustment followed careful consideration of the ongoing admission process. To ensure its proper conclusion and to maintain a smooth start to the new session, the Committee resolved that the resumption date should be extended by two weeks.
As a result, academic activities will now begin on Monday, November 17, 2025. This change provides the university adequate time to finalise admissions and prepare for the new academic year.
Assurance from UNIPORT Management
The Management of UNIPORT regrets any inconvenience this shift may cause. It also assures all stakeholders that the decision was taken in the best interest of the university community. The goal is to maintain order and uphold the standards expected of a leading Nigerian university.
Students, parents, and staff are encouraged to take note of the new date and prepare accordingly. UNIPORT appreciates the cooperation and understanding of everyone involved as it continues to strengthen its commitment to academic quality and effective service delivery.
Closing Note
UNIPORT remains focused on providing a stable academic calendar and creating an environment where students can learn and grow without unnecessary disruption. By prioritising careful planning and communication, UNIPORT continues to show its dedication to maintaining excellence across all academic programmes.
