University of Uyo (UNIUYO) Job Recruitment 2025 for Academic and Non-Teaching Positions

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has announced openings for both academic and non-teaching positions for 2025. The recruitment invites qualified candidates to apply for various posts across several departments and faculties. Interested applicants are expected to meet the stated qualifications and submit complete documentation within the specified period.

Academic Staff Positions

1. Professor

Applicants must hold a PhD or its equivalent in the relevant field from a recognised university. Positions are available in Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Radiography and Radiation Science, and Dentistry.
Candidates must show evidence of sustained scholarly achievements, have served as Associate Professor for at least three years, and possess publications recognised internationally. Registration with a professional body is required where applicable.

2. Associate Professor

Applicants must possess a PhD or its equivalent from a recognised university, preferably in the same departments listed above. They must have at least nine years of post-qualification experience and verifiable scholarly output. Visibility on academic platforms such as Google Scholar or ResearchGate is expected.

3. Senior Lecturer

Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent qualification and must have at least six years of teaching and research experience, including three years of service as Lecturer I at a recognised university or similar institution.

4. Lecturer I

Applicants should possess a PhD or its equivalent with at least three years of relevant teaching experience. They must have a minimum of two publications for PhD holders or three for Master’s degree holders.

5. Lecturer II

Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant field or a Master’s degree for areas such as Law, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, Radiography, and Engineering.

6. Assistant Lecturer

Applicants should have a Master’s degree with dissertation. For Law, candidates must hold a Second Class Upper degree and a Barrister-at-Law (B.L.) qualification from the Nigerian Law School.

7. Graduate Assistant

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from a recognised university.

Non-Teaching Positions

1. Principal Technologist

Candidates shall possess a Bachelor’s degree or HND in Science Laboratory Technology, City & Guilds of London Institute Part II in SLT or City & Guilds of London Full Technology or Final Certificate or any other relevant disciplines, plus nine (9) years relevant working experience in Teaching and Research Laboratory. Must be registered with NISLT or ISTL, COREN or relevant professional body established by an Act at the level not below Associate Membership Grade, plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

2. Principal Medical Laboratory Technologist

Candidates shall possess a Bachelor’s degree/HND in Medical Laboratory Science in the relevant discipline or relevant professional qualification AIMLT registrable with the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technologists, plus nine (9) years post-qualification experience in Medical Laboratory Technology or FIMLT with at least eight (8) years’ experience, plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

3. Senior Technologist

Candidate shall possess a B.Sc/HND in Science Laboratory Technology plus six (6) years relevant working experience in Teaching and Research Laboratory or three (3) years for M.Sc holders. Must be registered with a relevant professional body, plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

4. Medical Laboratory Scientist

Candidates shall possess a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science plus registration with the Institute of Medical Laboratory Science of Nigeria (IMLSN), plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

5. Laboratory Technician I

Candidates shall possess HND/MLT/City and Guilds of London Institute Part II in Science Laboratory Technology or its equivalent in the related fields, plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

6. Laboratory Assistant

Candidates shall possess SSCE/GCE/NECO O/Level with five (5) credits including English Language plus ND in related discipline with at least three (3) years of post-qualification relevant experience.

7. Administrative Officer I

Candidates shall possess a Bachelor’s degree not below Second Class Honours in the relevant discipline from a recognized institution and evidence of general ability to perform within the University system or a Master’s degree from a recognized institution, plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

8. Administrative Officer II

Candidates shall possess a Bachelor’s degree not below Second Class Honours in the relevant discipline from a recognized institution and evidence of general ability to perform within the University system, plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

9. Higher Technical Officer I

Candidates shall possess HND/City & Guilds (Full Technology) Certificate in relevant discipline plus five (5) years post-qualification experience and plus NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

10. Technical Officer I

Candidates shall possess HND/City and Guilds (Full Technology) Certificate in relevant discipline plus two (2) years post-qualification experience and NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate.

11. Works Supervisor

Candidates shall, in addition to proven skills, possess ND, ANTC plus Trade Test III, II, I or its equivalent in related area, OR City & Guilds Intermediate Certificate plus evidence of productive service in addition to SSCE or NTC with at least three (3) years post-qualification relevant experience.

12. Assistant Data Processing Officer

Candidates shall possess SSCE/NECO O/Level with five (5) credits including English Language plus Civil Service Training Certificate/Advanced NABTEB/ND in Data Processing with at least three (3) years of post-qualification relevant experience.

13. Executive Officer

Candidates shall possess a National Diploma (ND) or Advanced Level General Certificate of Education, or Advanced NABTEB Certificate (3 papers) or Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE), or its equivalent with at least post-qualification relevant experience.

14. Assistant Executive Officer

Candidates shall possess five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or its equivalent including English Language at not more than two (2) sittings. ND/Advanced NABTEB Certificate can be an added advantage.

15. Artisan

Candidates shall possess JS3 Certificate plus Trade Test Class II.

16. Office Assistant

Candidates shall possess five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NBT/NBC or its equivalent including English Language at not more than two (2) sittings.

17. Workshop Assistant

Candidates shall possess SSCE/GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or its equivalent with three (3) credits, two (2) passes at not more than two (2) sittings.

18. Groundsman

Candidates shall possess SSCE/GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or its equivalent including English Language at not more than two (2) sittings.

19. Motor Driver Mechanic/Transport Assistant

Candidates shall possess JS3 Certificate, Trade Test and Class “E” Driving License.

20. Porter

Candidates shall possess five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or its equivalent including English Language at not more than two (2) sittings.

21. Library Porter

Candidates shall possess five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or its equivalent including English Language at not more than two (2) sittings.

22. Clerical Officer

Candidates shall possess credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or its equivalent including English Language at not more than two (2) sittings.

23. Computer Operator

Candidates shall possess five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE/NECO/NTC/NBC or its equivalent including English Language and Mathematics or plus Physics at not more than two (2) sittings, in addition to evidence of training in Computer Operation.

24. Works Supervisor

Candidates shall, in addition to proven skill, possess ND, ANTC plus Trade Test III, II, I or its equivalent in a related area, or City & Guilds Institute Certificate plus evidence of productive service in addition to SSCE or NTC with at least three (3) years post-qualification experience.

Method of Application

Applicants are required to submit twenty-five copies of their application and curriculum vitae. Each submission must include personal details, academic and professional qualifications (with photocopies of certificates), work history, publications, and names of three referees. One referee must be in a position to provide an academic or professional reference.
