The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) has introduced the Admission Screening Formula for the 2024/2025 academic session.
This screening formula applies to Post-UTME, Direct Entry, and other related admission exercises.
The automated grading system uses a candidate’s O’level results and UTME scores.

Important Instructions for Candidates
Candidates are required to upload their O’level results to the JAMB CAPS Portal.
Ensure that you upload the same results to both the JAMB CAPS and UNIZIK portals.
Uploading at JAMB accredited CBT Centres or JAMB Offices is mandatory, as using regular cybercafes may lead to disqualification.
UNIZIK Admission Screening Formula
The formula is based on a 70:30 ratio, where 70% comes from the UTME score and 30% from the O’level results.
A. Ratio Breakdown
- UTME score: 70% (0.7)
- O’level subject score: 30% (0.3)
B. O’level Results Grading
- A1 = 90
- B2 = 80
- B3 = 70
- C4 = 60
- C5 = 55
- C6 = 50
- D7 = 48
- E8 = 40
- F9 = 0
- Awaiting Result (AR) = 0
C. Bonus for Single Sitting
- Single Sitting: Candidates who pass all four O’level subjects in a single sitting receive a bonus of 10 points.
- Two Sittings: No bonus for those who pass the subjects in two sittings.
D. Final Score Calculation
The final screening score is calculated using this formula:
Final Score = (UTME score * 0.7) + [(O’level score + Bonus) * 0.3]

Candidate’s Scores:
- UTME Score: 285
- O’level Grades:
- English: B3 (70 points)
- Biology: A1 (90 points)
- Physics: C4 (60 points)
- Chemistry: B2 (80 points)
Single Sitting Example:
- Final Score = (285 * 0.7) + [(300 + 10) * 0.3]
- Final Score = 199.5 + 93 = 292.5
Two Sittings Example:
- Final Score = (285 * 0.7) + [(300 + 0) * 0.3]
- Final Score = 199.5 + 90 = 289.5
The difference between a candidate with a single sitting and a two sittings result is 3 points (292.5 – 289.5).
