UNIZIK Postgraduate School Hosts Interactive Forum with Fulbright
The School of Post Graduate Studies recently hosted an interactive forum in collaboration with the Fulbright Coordinator, U.S Consulate General, Lagos for University staff and Post Graduate students.
The highlights were on, “Academic and Professional Exchange Opportunities in the United States” and a public lecture on, “Private pleasure, Public pain: Public Choice Perspective on the Failure of Nigerian State Institutions.”
Addressing participants, the Public Affairs Officer, U.S Consulate General, Lagos, Darcy Zotter commended the participants for turning out en masse, stating that there are quite a lot of opportunities for budding scholars in the United States. She maintained that the process is quite easy.
Speaking on academic and professional exchange opportunities in the U.S, the Fulbright Coordinator U.S Consulate General, Lagos, Dr. Clemson Ayegbusi described Fulbright programme as America’s flagship international exchange programme designed to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and people of other countries. Dr. Ayegbusi disclosed that there are over 330,000 Fulbright scholars. He further disclosed that Nnamdi Azikiwe University has hosted 3 American Fulbright scholars. He listed the goals of the programme to include; cultural exchange, Academic development, Professional development, personal development, promoting collaborative research aimed at solving global problems and equally fostering networking.
An American Fulbright Fellow in UNIZIK, Prof. Samuel Zalanga delivered the public lecture. Prof. Zalanga is in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Dean of PG School, Prof. Ike Odimegwu commended the U.S consulate for the interactive forum, expressing confidence on renewed interest among scholars in the University on the programme.
