Role of the Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive Officer and the highest-ranking academic officer of the University.
This position includes responsibilities such as chairing the Senate, being a member of the Governing Council, and implementing policies related to finance, property, and administration.
The Vice-Chancellor also oversees academic programmes, the discipline of staff and students, and manages the institution’s resources.
Requirements for the Role
The ideal candidate must be a distinguished academic with a solid record of leadership and resource management.
Key qualifications include:
- Full Professorship: A full Professor with at least eight years of experience in a recognised university.
- Age Requirement: Candidates must not be over 65 years old at the time of appointment.
- Administrative Experience: Demonstrated experience in university administration is essential.
- Academic Leadership: The candidate must have the ability to provide leadership in both management and academic affairs.
- ICT Skills: Proficiency in information and communication technology.
- National and International Reputation: High reputation, both nationally and internationally, in academia with strong external linkages.

- Applications should be submitted to the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Deadline for Applications
All applications must be submitted no later than six weeks from the date of this advertisement.
