WAEC Denies Fake News on 2025 Exam Cancellation

A fake press release went viral on Saturday, 19 July 2025, saying WAEC and the Federal Ministry of Education had scrapped the 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates. The rumour claimed that widespread cheating and leaked questions forced the cancellation.

WAEC has now cleared the air.

The Council said it never made such a decision and did not issue that statement. According to WAEC, the exams were not cancelled, and there’s no truth in the story being pushed online. They believe someone is out to cause confusion and damage the Council’s name.

Marking Is Over, Results Coming Soon

Contrary to the false claims, WAEC confirmed that marking is done. Results will be released by Monday, 4 August 2025. So, students can breathe easy.

Only Trust Official Channels

WAEC reminded everyone that real updates only come from their verified social media pages or through recognised news outlets. If an announcement doesn’t come from the Public Affairs Department of the Council, don’t believe it.

Final Word

Ignore the fake news. WAEC didn’t cancel the 2025 exams. Results are on the way. Check only trusted sources before you start to worry.
