About the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program
YALI, an initiative by the United States government, aims to invest in Africa’s future leaders.
The Accra Regional Leadership Centre (RLC) serves nine West African countries: Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, The Gambia, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone.
This program offers hands-on training at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
The program focuses on leadership development across three tracks.
Fellowship Tracks
The program includes three main tracks for young leaders:
- Business and Entrepreneurship – For aspiring entrepreneurs and future private sector leaders.
- Civil Society Management – For those who engage with or aspire to work in community organisations or NGOs.
- Public Policy and Management – For individuals working or interested in government roles, regional organisations, or policy think tanks.
Program Cost
This fellowship is fully funded for participants to attend in Accra, Ghana.
Eligibility Criteria for YALI RLC West Africa
To qualify, applicants must meet these requirements:
- Age 18 to 35 years.
- Citizenship in Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Leone, or The Gambia.
- English proficiency.
- Active in making a positive impact within their community or organisation.
- Interest and experience in Public Policy Management, Business and Entrepreneurship, or Civic Leadership.
Applications are especially encouraged from:
- Young leaders based in rural areas.
- Economically disadvantaged young leaders.
- Women and minority groups.
- Young leaders with disabilities.
