FUKASHERE Gets NUC Approval for Four New PT Programmes

The Federal University Kashere (FUKASHERE) in Gombe State has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce four new full-time academic programmes beginning with the 2025/2026 academic session.

This approval follows a resource verification visit by the NUC to confirm that the university has the right staff and facilities in place for the new courses. The development represents another step in FUKASHERE’s growth, giving students more opportunities to study medical-related fields within the university.

Newly Approved Programmes at FUKASHERE

According to a letter dated 17 October 2025 and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, the NUC granted permission for the following programmes:

1. MBBS, Medicine and Surgery
2. B.Sc. Human Anatomy
3. B.Sc. Human Physiology
4. B.Sc. Pharmacology

The letter, signed by Abubakar M. Girei on behalf of the Executive Secretary, states that the approval applies strictly to the full-time mode of study. Any future plan to introduce part-time options will require a separate request to the Commission for review and approval.

Strengthening FUKASHERE’s Academic Capacity

The NUC encouraged the university to keep up its academic and physical resources for steady growth and high-quality teaching. The approval covers only the four listed programmes and their official titles.

Introducing the MBBS, Medicine and Surgery programme marks a key stage for FUKASHERE, as it opens the path for the university to start training medical doctors locally. This will support healthcare development in Gombe State and nearby areas while giving students more choices to study within Nigeria.
