NUC approves FUWUKARI Civil, Mechanical Engineering
Essential Highlights
NUC has approved FUWUKARI to run full-time Civil and Mechanical Engineering from the 2025/2026 session.
- Programmes: B.Eng. Civil Engineering; B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering
- Campus: Main Campus; effective 2025/2026 academic session
- Mode: full-time only (part-time needs separate NUC clearance)
- Letter ref: NUC/AP/F31/VOL.I/79; sent to the Vice-Chancellor
- Titles must stay as approved; changes need NUC authorisation
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given Federal University Wukari (FUWUKARI), Taraba State, approval to start two new full-time undergraduate engineering programmes.
This go-ahead followed a successful resource assessment visit carried out by a panel of experts to the university; NUC said the assessment informed its decision.
What NUC approved
NUC approved two degree programmes for FUWUKARI:
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering
- Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering
The approval is for full-time study.
Letter details and reference number
NUC announced the authorisation in a letter signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Ag. Director of Academic Planning, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
The communique referenced NUC/AP/F31/VOL.I/79 and was addressed to the Vice-Chancellor.
Where the programmes will run, and when they start
NUC stated that the programmes are approved to run at the university’s Main Campus, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.
Full-time only (Part-time needs separate approval)
NUC clarified that the approval covers only the full-time mode of delivery; FUWUKARI must seek and obtain separate approval from the Commission before starting any part-time option for these programmes.
Programme titles and naming
NUC directed the university to keep the approved titles and nomenclature for the programmes. Any change to the names would require the Commission’s express authorisation.
Staff and materials requirement
NUC also urged FUWUKARI to provide adequate human and material resources to support the programmes (and keep them running as approved).
