The National Universities Commission has approved the return of five academic programmes at the College of Management Sciences, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

These programmes were once removed but will now run again.

They will begin from the 2024/2025 academic session.

The courses will be offered in full-time mode.

The teaching will take place at the university’s main campus.

Know the Background

The approval followed a review by a team of experts.

This team checked the school’s staff and learning tools.

Their findings showed the university met all needed standards.

In a letter sent to the Vice-Chancellor, the NUC gave final approval.

The letter came from Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning.

The approval was issued after full review by the NUC Executive Secretary.

In 2016, the Federal Government asked the university to stop courses not linked to its main area.

MOUAU had to drop these five courses.

The university later explained that these courses support farming.

They can help farmers manage produce and improve planning.

After fresh checks and requests, the courses have now been brought back.

The university is set to admit students into these programmes from the next session.
