For the convocation ceremonies holding on Wednesday, 28 January and Thursday, 29 January 2026, guests are to be seated by 9:00 a.m. prompt. The ceremonies themselves are listed to begin at 10:00 a.m.; the seating time is earlier, and it is stated plainly.

Gown collection: payment and collection period

Graduands are required to pay Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000.00) online. The notice sets out the payment steps:

  1. Visit the TASFUED portal and log in.
  2. Pay ₦10,000.00 using a MasterCard or Visa card.
  3. Print the receipt.

Printed receipts are to be endorsed at the University Bursary. With an endorsed receipt, graduands may collect academic gowns and invitation cards between 20 and 27 January 2026 at their respective Colleges or the Postgraduate College.

The notice adds a restriction that often becomes a point of dispute; gowns and invitation cards cannot be collected by proxy.

Return of academic gowns and penalty for late return

All academic gowns are to be returned on or before Wednesday, 4 February 2026, to the relevant College Officers or the Secretary of the Postgraduate College.

Late return attracts a penalty of ₦1,000.00 for each day of default. The phrasing is direct; a student who keeps a gown beyond the stated date should expect a daily charge until it is returned.
