UNILAG Notice on Filming and Video Recording on Campus
The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has issued an official statement addressing the increasing use of university premises, including hostels and other facilities, for film and video recordings such as skits, vox pops, and other cinematographic activities without proper authorisation.
According to the university, there are established procedures for the use of its spaces for any form of recording or content production. These measures are intended to preserve safety, orderliness, and respect for the academic and residential environment while protecting the reputation of UNILAG.
Guidelines for Filming and Content Creation at UNILAG
All individuals or groups — whether students, staff, or external collaborators — who intend to create visual or audio content on campus are required to obtain prior approval from the university.
Requests for filming or production approval should be directed to:
The Communication Unit, 7th Floor, Senate House, UNILAG, Akoka.
The management emphasised that while creativity and responsible expression are encouraged, all such activities must follow university guidelines to ensure that the campus remains a respectful and secure environment for academic pursuits.
Members of the UNILAG community and the general public have been advised to comply strictly with this directive to maintain order, protect shared facilities, and uphold the university’s standards.
By enforcing this policy, the university aims to balance creative freedom with the need for decorum, ensuring that all forms of media activity reflect the values and integrity of UNILAG.
