Admission Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

  • To qualify for admission into a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programme, candidates must be graduates of the University of Uyo, or any other university recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo, or a person who holds a qualification adjudged by the Senate of the University of Uyo to be equivalent to a First Degree not lower than a third class pass.
  • Holders of a recognized Higher National Diploma with Lower Credit in the relevant disciplines can also apply.
  • Graduates who possess a minimum of Third Class in Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work, or other relevant courses from recognized tertiary institutions can also apply for a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Order and Information Management.
  • Credit passes in English and Mathematics plus any other three (3) subjects in related courses in WAEC and NECO are acceptable.

Master’s Degree Programme

  • To qualify for admission into a Master’s Degree Programme, applicants should be Bachelor’s Degree holders of not lower than a Second Class Lower Division in any relevant discipline or a Postgraduate Diploma in their relevant field of study.
  • Credit passes in English and Mathematics plus any other three (3) subjects in related courses in WAEC and NECO are acceptable.

Ph.D. in Public Order and Information Management

  • Candidates must be Master’s degree graduates in Public Order and Information Management from the University of Uyo or other institutions recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo.
  • Credit passes in English and Mathematics plus any other three (3) subjects in related courses in WAEC and NECO are acceptable.

Ph.D. in Peace and Conflict Studies

  • Candidates should possess a Master’s degree in the Social Sciences, Arts, or Management Sciences from institutions recognized by the University of Uyo Senate and should also possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Order and Information Management with relevant work experience.

Ph.D. in Environmental and Public Health Parasitology

  • Candidates must possess credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and other requirements as applicable to PGD entry requirements.

Ph.D. in Entomology

  • Candidates must possess credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and other requirements as applicable to PGD entry requirements.

Ph.D. in Hydrobiology

  • Candidates must possess credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and other requirements as applicable to PGD entry requirements.

Ph.D. in Parasitology

  • Candidates must possess credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and other requirements as applicable to PGD entry requirements.

Eligibility

  1. Applicants are expected to meet their departmental requirements. (See section one)
  2. All transcripts must be submitted within the first year of admission; otherwise, the admission will be forfeited.
  3. NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificates shall be required, except in specific cases.
  4. Applicants for Master’s and Ph.D. programs shall be subjected to screening as part of the admission process.

Interested candidates should follow these steps:

  1. Pay a non-refundable fee of N12,000.00 via Remita Payment Platform.
  2. Visit UNIUYO e-portals or official website and click on e-portals link.
  3. Select Admission forms link.
  4. Choose Admission Form Type (Postgraduate Diploma, Masters’ and Doctorate Degree Part-time).
  5. Enter your phone number, Name, and E-mail address.
  6. Click the MAKE PAYMENT NOW button.
  7. Payment can be made online or any commercial Bank branch using Remita Platform.
  8. After payment, return to the online portal and click on REGISTER LINK to obtain login credentials.
  9. Note your login credentials.
  10. Login, complete your registration and print out the application form.
  11. Return completed registration forms with photocopies of credentials to The Administrative Secretary, School of Continuing Education, University of Uyo.
