Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole
The Governing Council of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has confirmed the appointment of Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, a renowned soil ecosystem expert, as the new Vice-Chancellor. He will take over from Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina as the fifth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University in February.
Professor Ogunwole currently serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Partnership, Research, and Linkages at FUOYE. His appointment follows an extensive selection process conducted by the Governing Council to identify a capable leader to continue the University’s academic and administrative growth.
Appointment Process and Council Remarks
The announcement was made through a statement from the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Foluso Ogunmodede. The decision came after a meeting chaired by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN), on Thursday, 6 November 2025.
According to the statement, the appointment concludes a lengthy selection process that began in August, when advertisements for the position were placed in national newspapers. Senator Ndoma-Egba emphasised that the appointment marks a new chapter for the University, calling on all applicants and stakeholders to work together with the new Vice-Chancellor in promoting harmony and progress.
The Chairman also expressed appreciation to the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fasina, for his contributions to FUOYE’s development, particularly in the area of infrastructure. He commended the Governing Council for its thoroughness, unity, and dedication throughout the selection process.
At the end of the meeting, Senator Ndoma-Egba presented the official letter of appointment to Professor Ogunwole, marking the beginning of a new phase in the University’s leadership.
Closing Note
FUOYE congratulates Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole on his appointment and expresses confidence in his ability to lead the University to greater achievements in academics, research, and administration.
