OOU Christmas and New Year Break Approved
The Senate of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) has approved the closure of the university for the Christmas and New Year break. The break will begin on Friday, 19 December 2025.
This decision came from the 466th Special Meeting of Senate held on Wednesday, 10 December 2025. Details were shared through an internal memo sent by the Deputy Registrar (Senate) to the Registrar.
The memo explained that the Vice-Chancellor informed Senate that the university would shut down on Friday, 19 December 2025. The aim is to allow staff and students take part in the festive season with ease.
Lecturers have been asked to end all lectures on Thursday, 18 December 2025. The Vice-Chancellor stated that this step helps students travel early and safely. It also seeks to avoid past cases where students were involved in road accidents while rushing home.
Senate also approved Friday, 2 January 2026, as the date for the return of academic activities.
This notice was shared for awareness and follow-up steps.
The memo was signed by Mrs Florence O. Onayinka, Deputy Registrar (Senate), with a copy sent to the Vice-Chancellor.
