UI Academic Calendar 2025/2026 (Undergraduates)

The University of Ibadan (UI) released its approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session for undergraduate new and returning students. This timetable sets out registration, orientations, lectures, teaching weeks, and the examination windows for the session; the dates below follow UI’s listed schedule.

First Semester Schedule

New students: registration, orientation, resumption

• Commencement of online registration for new students: Monday, 19 January 2026
• Virtual orientation for new students: Monday, 19 January 2026 to Tuesday, 20 January 2026
• 5 weeks for virtual lectures: Wednesday, 21 January 2026 to Friday, 27 February 2026
• Physical resumption for new students: Monday, 2 March 2026
• Physical orientation for new students: Tuesday, 3 March 2026 to Wednesday, 4 March 2026

So, when does UI bring new students on campus? The calendar puts physical resumption for new students on Monday, 2 March 2026; that date sits as the clear marker.

Returning students: resumption and registration

• Physical resumption on campus for returning students / commencement of online registration for returning students: Thursday, 5 March 2026

Matriculation

• Matriculation ceremony (physical): Wednesday, 11 March 2026

Teaching, revision, and continuous assessment

• 11 weeks for teaching/revision and continuous assessment: Monday, 9 March 2026 to Friday, 22 May 2026

GES examinations

• GES examinations: Monday, 25 May 2026 to Friday, 29 May 2026

First Semester Faculty Examinations (By Faculty Group)

UI split faculty examinations into two 2-week blocks.

Group 1: 1 to 12 June 2026

• 2 weeks for examinations in Faculties of Education, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Technology, Law, Agriculture, Renewable Natural Resources, Clinical Sciences, Dentistry, Basic Medical Sciences, Public Health, Environmental Design and Management, Basic Clinical Sciences and Nursing: Monday, 1 June 2026 to Friday, 12 June 2026

Group 2: 15 to 26 June 2026

• 2 weeks for examinations in Faculties of Arts, Science, the Social Sciences, Economics & Management Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and Computing: Monday, 15 June 2026 to Friday, 26 June 2026

End of first semester: after Friday, 26 June 2026.

Second Semester Schedule

Teaching, revision, and continuous assessment

• 11 weeks for teaching/revision and continuous assessment: Monday, 13 July 2026 to Friday, 9 October 2026

First semester results: processing and meetings

These items appear on UI’s second semester timeline; the calendar lists them as follows:

• 2 weeks for processing of first semester examination results: Monday, 3 August 2026 to Friday, 14 August 2026
• 2 weeks for meetings of faculty boards of examiners to consider first semester non-final year results: Monday, 17 August 2026 to Friday, 28 August 2026
• Senate meeting for the consideration of first semester non-final year results: Tuesday, 15 September 2026 to Wednesday, 16 September 2026

GES examinations

• GES examinations: Monday, 12 October 2026 to Friday, 16 October 2026
