UNIABUJA Fraud Alert: Admission, Hostel, Recruitment

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has raised an alarm over people posing as “helpers” for admission, hostel accommodation, and recruitment into the University. These fraudsters often ask for money (or personal favours) while claiming they can “arrange” entry, bed space, or employment.

This notice targets candidates, parents, guardians, and job seekers; anyone can fall for it if the message looks convincing.

How the fraudsters operate

The University’s notice points to common tricks used by these scammers, such as:

• Fake admission offers shared with unsuspecting candidates
• Cloned websites designed to look like the real UNIABUJA site
• Fraudulent social media accounts that mimic official pages
• Deceptive phone calls, texts, and messages meant to pressure people

Some of these tactics look polished; the goal is to mislead people Fast, before they check properly.

What UNIABUJA says about admission, hostels, and recruitment

UNIABUJA states clearly that admission, hostel accommodation, and recruitment follow approved and transparent processes. The University says no individual, agent, or third party has authority to demand or collect payment or favours on its behalf for any of these services.

So, if someone claims they have “connections” and asks for cash to sort it, that person is not speaking for the University; that claim is fake.

What the public should do

The University advises members of the public to disregard such claims and report them. Anyone who chooses to deal with these fraudsters does so at their own risk, and the University will not accept liability for losses linked to those dealings.
