AKTH Post Basic Nursing Admission Form 2026/2027

Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital College of Nursing Sciences has opened admission into its Post Basic Nursing programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The school is taking applications from qualified candidates into four nursing programmes. The training runs for two semesters; it is meant for Registered Nurses who meet the stated entry conditions.

AKTH Post Basic Nursing programmes available

The Post Basic Nursing programmes listed for the 2026/2027 session are:

• Critical Care Nursing
• Nephrology Nursing
• Paediatric Nursing
• Perioperative Nursing

Duration of the Post Basic Nursing course

The Post Basic Nursing course runs for two semesters.

The training is designed to equip a Registered Nurse with theoretical knowledge and practical skills for effective, safe and evidence-based nursing practice.

AKTH Post Basic Nursing admission requirements

An applicant must meet the following conditions:

Registered Nurse status and licence

The applicant must be a Registered Nurse with a current practising licence obtained from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

O’Level subject requirements

The applicant must have at least five O’Level credit passes in no more than two sittings. The required subjects are:

• English Language
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Biology
• Chemistry

The accepted examination bodies are GCE, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS.

NABTEB and NBAIS are not combinable with any other examination such as WAEC or NECO. A combination of WAEC and NECO, or NECO and WAEC, is accepted.

Work experience

The applicant must have at least one year post-qualification experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
