Candidates should treat every correction with care because some personal data changes may be done only once. Course and school changes may be done more than once, but each request attracts a separate payment.
What can candidates change on the JAMB portal?
JAMB allows candidates to correct selected personal and academic details after registration. Each correction type has its own limit or proof requirement.
| Detail | What may be corrected | Limit or requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Surname, first name or middle name | One-time correction |
| Date of birth | Wrong birth date on the record | One-time correction |
| Passport photograph | Picture that does not match the candidate | One-time correction |
| Gender | Wrong gender selection | Birth certificate or affidavit may be requested |
| State or LGA | Wrong state or Local Government Area | Proof may be requested |
| Profile details | Email address or phone number | One-time correction |
| Course or school | Preferred course or school choice | May be changed more than once, with a fee each time |
Personal details need extra care because most of them give candidates one chance only. Course and school changes allow more room, but repeated changes will attract fresh payment each time.
How much is JAMB correction of data?
Each correction costs ₦3,500. The amount includes the CBT centre service fee.
Candidates should budget for every separate request, especially where course or school changes may be made more than once before admission processing. Money still counts.
How should 2026 UTME or DE candidates correct JAMB data?
For 2026 UTME and Direct Entry records, the process starts on the JAMB eFacility portal and may be completed at a JAMB office or an accredited CBT centre. Candidates should follow the correct service option for their application type.
- Visit the JAMB eFacility portal.
- Log in with your email address and password.
- Select "Registration (2026 only)" from the menu.
- Choose "2026 UTME Data Correction" or "2026 DE Data Correction", depending on your entry type.
- Pay the ₦3,500 correction fee online.
- Visit a nearby JAMB office or accredited CBT centre to complete the process where required.
Some corrections may not be completed online alone. A candidate should follow the portal prompt and attend a JAMB office or approved CBT centre when the system requires physical confirmation.
What should candidates from 2025 or earlier do?
Applicants with 2025 or earlier records should use the older-record correction route after login. The service label to select is "Application for Correction of Data (2025 Downward)".
Use the JAMB eFacility portal, log in as usual, select the 2025 downward correction option and choose the item to be changed, such as course, school, name or date of birth. A JAMB office visit may still be needed for the last step.
Which corrections need extra care?
Name, date of birth, passport photograph, gender, state or LGA and profile details deserve careful review because most of them have a one-time limit. Candidates who submit a wrong second entry may have no further chance to correct that same record through the ordinary route.
Gender and state or LGA corrections may require documents such as a birth certificate or affidavit, so candidates should prepare proof before starting the request. Course and school changes may be made more than once, but every new change will carry another ₦3,500 fee. Check once more.
How can candidates avoid correction problems?
Candidates should complete correction requests only through approved JAMB centres or JAMB offices. Anyone offering unofficial correction help should be avoided.
Before payment, you should confirm the spelling of names, date of birth, gender selection, state or LGA, phone number, email address, course and school. Read the screen twice. Then pay.

What is the safest next step for candidates?
A candidate whose JAMB slip carries a wrong detail should first identify the correction category, confirm whether it has a one-time limit and pay only through the approved JAMB channel. You should treat personal data changes with care because a small mistake can affect later admission checks.
Candidates seeking change of course or school should choose with care, since every later change attracts another ₦3,500 fee. Use approved centres, keep your login details safe and complete any required visit at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre.
