AUSU gets full accreditation for 11 programmes

Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila (AUSU), Kano State, has announced that the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation to 11 academic programmes.

The approval followed the accreditation exercise carried out in November and December 2025. According to the NUC report, the programmes were assessed under the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS), with attention given to curriculum content, academic staff quality, physical facilities, library resources, and employers’ rating.

AUSU full accreditation update

The new NUC decision covers 11 programmes across the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, and the Faculty of Science and Computing.

The Management said the result reflects the work of its academic and administrative staff; it also stated that all accredited programmes now have full recognition for five years.

What the NUC assessed

According to the report, the NUC used CCMAS in the assessment of the programmes.

The review focused on curriculum content, quality of academic staff, physical facilities, library resources, and employers’ rating. Those were the key areas considered during the exercise.

What the AUSU Management said

The Management said the result shows the university’s drive to deliver quality education. It also linked the outcome to the work and professionalism of academic and administrative staff.

The Management thanked the Founder, Senator Sulaiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, OFR, Ph.D., the Governing Council, faculty members, Heads of Departments, staff, and students for their collective effort in making the result possible.

What this means for AUSU programmes

With this update, all the listed programmes have full accreditation status for five years.

The university also said it will continue to sustain and improve the standards that led to the recognition. For students and families watching these updates closely, that five-year status is the central point.
