EKSU Gets NUC Approval for Nursing Science, Two Other Courses

Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission for three more academic programmes.

The approval covers Nursing Science, Adult Education, and Education English Language. The National Universities Commission granted the full accreditation after an assessment of the programmes during the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise.

EKSU Gets Full NUC Accreditation for Three Programmes

The National Universities Commission approved full accreditation status for three academic programmes at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

The approval came through a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor. The letter was dated 7 April 2026 and signed by the Director of Accreditation, National Universities Commission, Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.

The affected programmes received full accreditation after NUC experts assessed the human and material resources available for each course; that review checked compliance with the minimum academic standard.

EKSU Programmes With New Full NUC Accreditation

The newly accredited EKSU programmes are:

• Nursing Science
• Adult Education
• Education English Language

The National Universities Commission stated that the accreditation status will remain valid for five years. After that period, the programmes will be due for reaccreditation.

Background to the Accreditation Exercise

The approval followed the accreditation exercise carried out by NUC experts during October/November 2025.

The exercise focused on the available human and material resources for the affected courses. It also checked whether the programmes met the minimum academic standard set by the National Universities Commission.

Vice-Chancellor Reacts to the NUC Approval

The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, expressed delight over the approval.

He appreciated the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission and stated that the approval supports the university’s vision for academic excellence.

Professor Ayodele also appreciated the Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the University, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his role and support.

He also thanked the University Governing Council and Senate for their support during the process.

EKSU Full Accreditation Count Rises to 79

With the new approval, the total number of EKSU programmes with full accreditation has risen from 76 to 79.

The University stated that this amounts to 100% full accreditation status for the listed programmes.

The full accreditation status applies to Nursing Science, Adult Education, and Education English Language.

The approval confirms that NUC has granted full accreditation to these programmes for a five-year period. After the five years, the courses will be due for reaccreditation.
