Kogi State Polytechnic HND Entry Requirements
The entry rules differ by school and by course. In many cases, the Polytechnic asks for a relevant National Diploma, a minimum of lower credit with CGPA of 2.50, five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings, one year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training. The notice also states that ND transcript is required for admission into all HND programmes; candidates must process and submit their academic transcripts.
School of Applied Sciences Entry Requirements
Computer Science
For HND in Networking and Cloud Computing, and HND in Software and Web Development, candidates must possess National Diploma in Computer Science with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50). They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings from NECO, WAEC, GCE or NABTEB.
English Language, Mathematics, and Physics are compulsory at credit level. A credit in any other Science subject and Social Science subject is also required. The candidate must have one year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcript is required.
Statistics
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Statistics with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50). They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics, and Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Agric. Science.
The notice also requires one year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcript is required.
Science Laboratory Technology
For HND in Science Laboratory Technology with options in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Environmental Biology, candidates must possess National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50).
They must have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings. English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics are compulsory at credit level. A credit in any other Science subject and Social Science subject is also required. One year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training, is required. ND transcript is required.
School of Art Design and Printing Entry Requirements
Industrial Design
For HND in Industrial Design with options in Graphics, Textiles, and Ceramics, candidates must possess National Diploma in Fine Arts with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50).
They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings. The listed subjects are English Language, Mathematics, Fine Arts or Visual Arts, Chemistry, History, Biology, Literature in English, Clothing and Textiles, Religious Knowledge, and any other sciences. The notice also requires one year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcript is required.
Fine Arts
For HND in Fine Arts with options in Painting and Sculpture, the entry requirements are the same as those listed for Industrial Design above.
School of Engineering Technology Entry Requirements
Mineral/Petroleum Resources Engineering
For HND in Mineral/Petroleum Resources Engineering with options in Mining Engineering Technology, Geological Engineering Technology, and Mineral Processing Engineering Technology, candidates must possess National Diploma in Mineral Resources Engineering Technology with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50).
They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings. English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are compulsory. One other subject must come from Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics or Commerce, Food and Nutrition.
The candidate must also have one year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcript is required.
Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology
For HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology with options in Power and Machine, and Electronic and Telecommunication, candidates must possess National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Telecommunication Engineering Technology, or Television Engineering.
They must have a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50) and five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings. English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are compulsory. One other subject must come from Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics or Commerce, Food and Nutrition.
One year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training, is required. ND transcript is required.
Metallurgical and Material Engineering Technology
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Metallurgy Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50).
They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings. English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and one other subject from Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics or Commerce, Food and Nutrition are required.
The notice also asks for one year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcript is required.
Civil Engineering Technology
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50).
They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings. English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are compulsory. One other subject must come from Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Further Mathematics, Geography, Economics or Commerce, Food and Nutrition.
One year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training, is required. ND transcript is required.
Mechanical Engineering Technology (Manufacturing Option)
Candidates must have:
- Five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other subject, preferably science, at not more than two sittings
- National Diploma certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a minimum of lower credit pass, CGPA of 2.50 and above
- A minimum of one year post-National Diploma cognate work experience in Mechanical Engineering, including three months of certified computer training
The notice also states that, in exceptional cases, ND with a pass grade of CGPA 2.0 to 2.49 and two or more years of cognate work experience may be considered for admission into the HND programme.
School of Environmental Technology Entry Requirements
Urban and Regional Planning
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning with a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50).
They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings. English Language, Mathematics, and Geography are required, plus any two subjects from Economics, Physics, Biology or Agric. Science, and Fine Art.
The candidate must also have one year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcript is required.
Architectural Technology
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Architectural Technology with a minimum of lower credit pass, CGPA of 2.50 and above.
They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings in Mathematics, English Language and Physics, plus any two out of Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics or Commerce, Technical Drawing or Graphic Design, Painting and Decoration or Fine Art, Building Construction, Woodwork, Basic Electronics, Computer Studies.
The notice requires one year of compulsory post-ND Industrial Training. Candidates with a pass, CGPA below 2.50, must have a minimum of two years post-ND cognate or related work experience. ND transcript is required.
Building Technology
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Building Technology with a minimum of lower credit pass, CGPA of 2.50 and above.
They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings in Mathematics, English Language and Physics, plus any two out of Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics or Commerce, Technical Drawing or Graphic Design, Painting and Decoration or Fine Art, Building Construction, Woodwork, Basic Electronics, Computer Studies.
The notice requires one year of compulsory post-ND Industrial Training. Candidates with a pass, CGPA below 2.50, must have a minimum of two years post-ND cognate or related work experience. ND transcript is required.
Surveying and Geoinformatics
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Surveying and Geoinformatics with a minimum of lower credit pass, CGPA of 2.50 and above.
They must also have five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings in Mathematics, English Language and Physics, plus any two out of Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics or Commerce, Technical Drawing or Graphic Design, Painting and Decoration or Fine Art, Building Construction, Woodwork, Basic Electronics, Computer Studies.
The notice requires one year of compulsory post-ND Industrial Training. Candidates with a pass, CGPA below 2.50, must have a minimum of two years post-ND cognate or related work experience. ND transcript is required.
School of Management Studies Entry Requirements
Accountancy
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Accountancy, Taxation, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Micro-Finance and Enterprise Development, and NID Banking Operations.
They must have a minimum of lower credit (CGPA of 2.50) and five O’Level credits in not more than two sittings from NECO, WAEC, GCE or NABTEB. English Language, Mathematics, and Commerce or Economics are compulsory at credit level. A credit in any other Science subject and Social Science subject is also required.
The notice also requires one year of compulsory Industrial Training, or a pass in ND with two years of compulsory Industrial Training. ND transcript is required.
Business Administration and Management
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Business Administration and Management, Cooperative Economics and Management, Pension Administration and Management, Petroleum Marketing and Business Studies, or Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
Library and Information Science
The entry requirements are the same as those listed for Accountancy above, but candidates must possess National Diploma in Library and Information Science.
Office Technology and Management
The entry requirements are the same as those listed for Accountancy above, but candidates must possess National Diploma in Office Technology and Management.
Public Administration
Candidates must possess National Diploma in Public Administration, Local Government and Administrative Studies, Crime Management, Labour, and Industrial Relations.
The notice also states that candidates must have a credit pass in Government or Civic Education at O’Level.
How to Apply for Kogi State Polytechnic HND Form
The application form can be accessed through the Kogi State Polytechnic school portal.
Qualified candidates are advised to generate two different RRR numbers through the Portal, one for the admission form and one for the screening fee, then proceed with payment.
Kogi State Polytechnic HND Form Fees
The notice states these charges:
- Admission form fee: N10,000.00
- Screening fee: N10,000.00
Transcript Rule and Submission of Credentials
The Polytechnic states that candidates must process their transcripts before admission. The transcript should be mailed directly to the Registrar, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
It also states that hard copies of credentials must be submitted at the Polytechnic Admission Office on or before the closing date of the form.
Kogi State Polytechnic HND Form Closing Date
The closing date for submission of completed forms is six weeks, given as 16 June 2026, from the date of the advertisement. The notice also states that there will be no extension of the date of sale of application forms.
