ABSU Postgraduate Admission Form 2025
ABSU invites applications for postgraduate programmes for the 2024/2025 session. Available programmes include Postgraduate Diploma, Masters, MPhil and Ph.D. Learn about entry requirements, duration and application steps. Apply before 30th June 2025.

Abia State University (ABSU) has opened applications for postgraduate programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session. Those seeking to advance their qualifications can apply for Postgraduate Diploma, Masters, MPhil and Ph.D. degrees.
ABSU Postgraduate Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
- A graduate from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification may apply.
- A holder of an Upper Credit in HND from a recognised institution may also be eligible.
- Applicants for PGD in Business Administration must have O'level credits in English, Mathematics and Economics.
- Applicants for PGD in Estate Management must hold a good honours degree or relevant professional certification from the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners.
- Applicants for PGD in Microbiology must have a B.Sc or HND in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Zoology, Botany, Laboratory Technology, Food Science and Technology or Chemistry.
- Applicants for PGD in Pharmacology must have a B.Sc in an allied field from a recognised university.
Masters Degree
- A first degree with at least a Second Class Lower Division from a recognised university.
- Candidates with CGPA of 2.6 (on a 4-point scale) or 3.0 (on a 5-point scale) will be given preference.
- A good Postgraduate Diploma from a recognised university may also be accepted.
- Applicants for Business Administration and Industrial Sociology & Personnel Management must have O'level credits in English, Mathematics and Economics.
- For Masters in Surgical Pathology or Human Physiology, applicants must have an M.B.B.S or equivalent from a recognised university.
- For M.Sc in Clinical Optometry, applicants must hold an O.D from an accredited school with a CGPA of not less than 3.0 (on a 5-point scale).
MPhil/Ph.D and Ph.D Programmes
- A good Master's degree (excluding MBA) from a recognised university is required.
- A minimum CGPA of 3.0 (on a 4-point scale) or 4.0 (on a 5-point scale) is preferred.
- Applicants must have 60% or higher in coursework and dissertation evaluated by an external examiner.
- Selection tests and interviews may be required for certain applicants.
- Those with CGPA lower than 3.0 (4-point scale) or 4.0 (5-point scale) must apply for MPhil/Ph.D instead.

Practise CBT Exams on Mobile or PC

Duration of ABSU Postgraduate Programmes
Postgraduate Diploma
- Full-Time: Minimum of three semesters, maximum of six.
- Part-Time: Minimum of four semesters, maximum of eight.
Masters Degree
- Full-Time: Minimum of three semesters, maximum of ten.
- Part-Time: Minimum of four semesters, maximum of eight.
MPhil/Ph.D
- Full-Time: Minimum of six semesters, maximum of ten.
- Part-Time: Minimum of eight semesters, maximum of twelve.
Ph.D
- Full-Time: Minimum of four semesters, maximum of ten.
- Part-Time: Minimum of six semesters, maximum of fourteen.
How to Apply for ABSU Postgraduate Admission
Follow these steps to complete your application:
- Make Payment
- Visit any of the approved banks: ABSU Micro-Finance Bank, First Bank, Signature Bank, Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank, Union Bank, UBA.
- Pay ₦25,000 (includes form and service charges).
- Payment can also be made using a bank debit card.
- Obtain the Form
- Collect the payment receipt and visit any internet centre to complete the application.
- Complete Online Registration
- Log in to ABSU Postgraduate Portal and fill out the form.
- Submit Referee Reports
- Print the application form and three referee confidential reports.
- Have your referees complete and return the reports.
Deadline for ABSU Postgraduate Application
The deadline for submission is Monday, 30th June 2025.
Important Reminders
- Ensure all details are correct to avoid delays.
- Keep a copy of the e-transact receipt as proof of payment.
- Submit all referee reports on time to complete the process.
