ABUTH SHIM Revised Academic Calendar for 2025/2026 Second Semester

The management of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, through the School of Health Information Management, has released the revised academic calendar for the 2025/2026 second semester.

The school stated that the updated calendar received approval at the Academic Board meeting held on 25 March 2026. The schedule sets out the key dates for lectures, registration, project work, examinations, breaks, SIWES, and result approval.

Lectures and semester schedule

Second semester lectures began on Monday, 23 March 2026, and will continue until Friday, 29 May 2026. The lecture period covers ten weeks.

Students are expected to keep close track of these dates; the semester schedule now sets the pace for all academic work within the term.

Registration period

Course form registration will take place from Monday, 13 April to Friday, 24 April 2026.

That window gives students the approved period for completing semester registration.

Easter break and Health Week

The Easter break will run from Thursday, 2 April to Tuesday, 7 April 2026. The break will last five days.

The school has also fixed Scientific/Health Week for Monday, 20 April to Friday, 24 April 2026.

Project submission and external defence

Students must submit the final draft copies of their projects on or before 27 May 2026.

Examination dates

Second semester examinations will start on Monday, 8 June and end on Friday, 26 June 2026. The examination period will last three weeks.

After the examinations, students will go on the second semester break from Monday, 29 June to Friday, 3 July 2026. That break will last one week.

SIWES practical training

Practical training under the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme will begin on Monday, 6 July and end on Friday, 25 September 2026.

The training period will last twelve weeks.

Marking, board meetings and result approval

Marking and submission of examination scripts are scheduled from Monday, 29 June to Friday, 17 July 2026.

The Unit Board of Examiners meeting will hold from Monday, 20 July to Friday, 24 July 2026.

The Academic Board meeting for approval of results is fixed for Monday, 3 August 2026.

Next academic session

The school also stated that the 2026/2027 academic session is expected to begin in October 2026.

Public holidays

The management added that all national and state public holidays will be observed during the academic session.
