ASUU-ABU withdraws services: Why it happened

Ahmadu Bello University is set for a disruption after the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ABU Zaria branch, directed its members to withdraw their services with immediate effect.

The branch reached that decision at a Congress meeting held on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, at the Abdullahi Smith Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Arts. The issue at the centre of the action is the persistent delay in salary payment, with the March 2026 pay cycle named in the union’s resolution.
