Correct All NIMC Details Before JAMB Registration
JAMB has directed all 2025 UTME candidates to correct their details with NIMC before starting registration. The board will not alter names, ages or other personal data after receiving them from NIMC. Keep reading to understand the process and avoid issues.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has instructed all prospective 2025 UTME candidates to verify and correct their details with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) before beginning registration.

Why This Step Is Important
JAMB will only use the information provided by NIMC for registration.
- All name, date of birth and personal data changes must be done at NIMC before UTME registration.
- JAMB will not modify names, birthdates or other details, except for minor corrections of alphabets in rare cases.
- Errors in NIMC records will reflect in JAMB registration if not corrected early.

JAMB's Stand on Data Accuracy
During a virtual meeting with CBT centre operators, the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, clarified that JAMB does not collect personal details.
- The only requirement for registration is the National Identification Number (NIN).
- JAMB does not ask for names, addresses or birthdates directly.
- The data linked to the NIN is final and will be used for UTME processing.
Avoid Attempts to Manipulate Age and Other Details
JAMB has strict rules on age and identity verification.
- The minimum age for admission is 16 years by 30th September 2025.
- Candidates below this age will not be eligible for university admission.
- Any attempt to alter personal details after NIMC registration will not be accepted by JAMB.
The Registrar warned that some individuals attempt to change their ages or names for various reasons. This will not work because JAMB directly retrieves data from NIMC.
Strict Warnings to CBT Centres
CBT centres must follow all registration rules and avoid activities that could disrupt the process.
- Centres must not engage in extortion or illegal fees.
- The use of routers outside permitted areas is prohibited.
- Any violation will lead to prosecution and loss of licences.
The meeting also featured live demonstrations by the Acting Director of Information Technology Services, Mrs. B-Usman and a Service Provider, Mr. Mudashiru Lawal. They explained the step-by-step registration process.
What Candidates Should Do Next
To avoid problems during registration, all candidates should:
- Check their NIMC records early and correct any mistakes.
- Ensure names, birthdates and personal details are correct before generating their profile codes.
- Use only official JAMB channels for registration and support.
JAMB will only work with the information from NIMC, so corrections must be made before registration begins.
