Programme Overview
The Dr. Fola Aina Fellowship supports young leaders in Nigeria, helping them drive growth, enhance governance and promote peace and security.
This fellowship brings together seven young leaders for a comprehensive leadership programme that aims to develop skills and empower participants to lead in their sectors and communities.
Key Features of the Dr. Fola Aina Fellowship
- Six-Week Leadership Development Experience: Fellows participate in an immersive six-week programme focusing on one of three themes: Leadership in Business, Leadership in Social Development or Leadership in Governance. This programme links academic sessions, leadership curriculum and cultural activities to provide relevant knowledge and practical skills.
- Colloquium in Abuja: Fellows will attend the Dr. Fola Aina Annual Colloquium on Youth, Leadership and Nation Building. The colloquium features networking opportunities, leadership talks and interactions with key figures from various sectors in Nigeria.
- Volunteering Activities: Fellows will engage in volunteering projects with Programme Partners. These activities offer practical experience and allow fellows to apply the skills learned during the leadership development programme.
- Networking: The fellowship provides networking opportunities with peers from across Nigeria and access to an alumni network of young leaders making an impact in various sectors.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Dr. Fola Aina Fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Nigerian citizen.
- Have resided in Nigeria for at least six months before applying.
- Be aged 21 to 35 years by the application deadline (exceptional applicants aged 18-21 may also be considered).
- Commit to at least 3 hours weekly for fellowship activities such as webinars, case studies and team assignments.
- Be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
- Not be an employee or a family member of an employee of the Triola Aina Foundation.
- Must not be a previous fellow of the Dr. Fola Aina Fellowship.
