Federal Government online real-time classes for Nigerian students

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education, has started the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative. This nationwide digital learning programme gives schoolchildren across Nigeria access to live lessons from trained teachers, using the internet and simple classroom devices.
In a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, the ministry explains that Inspire Live(s) is set up to give every Nigerian child fair access to quality learning. The programme supports the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

The classes help to reduce long-standing problems in the education sector, such as shortages of qualified teachers and breaks in learning. By streaming live, interactive lessons straight to schools, Inspire Live(s) makes it easier for children to learn, no matter where they live or what their family situation is.
How the Federal Government Inspire Live(s) classes work
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has confirmed that the programme is now fully in place.
According to the ministry:
- The rollout is ongoing and will grow to cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3.
- At the moment, the Inspire platform offers online classes for Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS) students.
- Classes run Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Lessons are delivered by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.
Each lesson is live and interactive. Students can follow the teacher in real time, just as in a regular classroom, while schools use basic ICT tools to connect.
Subjects for Junior Secondary School learners
Junior Secondary School learners can join Inspire Live(s) for a wide range of subjects, including:
- Basic Science
- Mathematics
- English Language
- ICT

- Business Studies
Subjects for Senior Secondary School learners
Senior Secondary School learners also have access to core and technical subjects. The ministry lists these subjects:

Steps for states and school leaders
To make sure students across the country can take part, the ministry has given clear tasks to state education leaders. All state Commissioners for Education are asked to:
- Name a State Focal Officer to coordinate Inspire Live(s) activities.
- Share programme details with all public and private school principals.
- Make sure selected schools have basic ICT tools, such as computers or devices and internet access.
The ministry explains that schools need a minimum level of digital readiness so that lessons can run smoothly and with clear audio and video.
Registration for the online classes is to be handled only by school principals. They must sign up through the Inspire support channels on behalf of their schools and learners.
Who can join Inspire Live(s) online classes
The ministry makes it clear that Inspire Live(s) is not limited to government schools. The programme is open to:
- Public schools
- Private schools
Any school in Nigeria that meets the basic ICT and internet requirements can connect to the live lessons and bring Inspire Live(s) into its classrooms. This shared national platform allows many schools to learn from the same pool of experienced teachers, guided by the Federal Ministry of Education.
Federal Government support for fair access to learning
Through Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes, the Federal Government is giving schools a simple way to reach quality teaching every school day. By sharing live lessons with JSS and SSS learners now and with Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3 as the rollout grows, the programme helps students stay in touch with their studies, even when local teacher numbers are low or classes face disruption.
As states, principals and teachers work together with the ministry, more classrooms can connect to Inspire Live(s). This steady effort means the Federal Government can help more children learn, grow and stay ready for future study and work.
