IEWD Essay Competition 2025 Announced for Nigerian Students
International E-Waste Day Essay Competition 2025 is now open for Nigerian secondary school students. Entries close on 30th September 2025. Read further for essay rules, prizes and how to apply.

The International E-Waste Day 2025 will not pass quietly this year. As part of the global event, the E-Waste Producer Responsibility Organisation of Nigeria, better known as EPRON, along with partner bodies, has rolled out an essay competition for students.
It is an open call for both junior and senior secondary school learners across Nigeria. The aim is simple, though the task is weighty: to make young people think, write and speak up on electronic waste and how to handle it responsibly.

About the IEWD Essay Competition
The organisers want more than just words on paper. They want essays that show a student's real grasp of the problem, written in their own voice. The competition gives pupils a stage to put their thoughts out there and in doing so, join a wider conversation about our environment.
Essay Requirements for IEWD Essay Competition
Each student must follow the rules closely:
- Write in English only.
- Submit just one entry.
- Keep the essay within 750 words.
It is a test of discipline as much as of creativity. Too short and the message may not land. Too long and it breaks the rule.
Prizes in the IEWD Essay Competition 2025
The prizes are designed to reward effort and help education at the same time:
- First Prize: A cash award plus a school support grant.
- Second Prize: Tablet devices for study and learning.
- Third Prize: Books and other educational materials.
These rewards are both encouragement and tools to keep students on their learning path.
Deadline and How to Apply
Entries must reach the organisers on or before 30 September 2025. Any essay sent after that date will not be looked at.
Students who wish to join can submit their essays through the official application form.
Closing Thought
E-waste is everywhere, from broken phones to forgotten chargers. This competition offers young Nigerians a chance to say what they see and how they think it should be fixed. One essay may not change the whole world, but it could spark ideas that matter.
