JAMB Warns CBT Centres Against Extortion or Face Sanction
The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has advised accredited Computer Based Test (CBT) centre operators against extortion or face harsh consequences.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) issued a warning on Monday to operators of accredited Computer Based Test (CBT) centres, telling them to stop extorting candidates or they will face harsh fines.
It stated in its weekly bulletin that it had been made aware of reports that some operators charged more than the N700 fee for services rendered to candidates.
It reiterated that it would not tolerate any form of exploitation and would levy a N100,000 fine on perpetrators after they were forced to return money collected.
“Centre owners are warned that failure to stop the nefarious act will result in a N100,000 fine and possible revocation of the JAMB licence.”
“Candidates are encouraged to report any CBT centre charging a fee in excess of the board’s stipulated fee for any of its services,” it said.
The board also expressed hope that the centres to which it granted permission to perform certain functions would perform as expected.
JAMB accredited CBT centres in February to register candidates for part-time studies, Sandwich programmes, National Open University of Nigeria programmes, and distance learning programmes.
JAMB stated that the licencing was done at the request of the CBT centres in order to decongest its offices across the country after typically crowded exercises during the process.
