KWASU Gains Approval for 10 New Programmes

Kwara State University has received approval from the National Universities Commission to introduce 10 new academic programmes starting in the 2024/2025 session.

This approval was communicated in a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei.

The approval is the outcome of resource verification assessments carried out by expert panels on the proposed programmes.

List of Approved Programmes

The approved programmes include:

  1. B.Sc. Estate Management
  2. B.Sc. Geography
  3. B.Sc. Urban and Regional Planning
  4. B.Eng. Mining Engineering
  5. B.Sc. Marketing
  6. B.Sc. Sociology
  7. B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies
  8. B.Sc. Physiology
  9. B.Sc. Human Anatomy
  10. B.Sc. Cyber Security

Details of the Approval

The letter, dated 10th December 2024, specifies that the programmes will operate in full-time mode.

The university has been encouraged to ensure sufficient human and material resources for the proper development of these programmes.

Reaction from the Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, expressed satisfaction with the approval.

He described it as a timely development and highlighted the university's commitment to training quality human resources for societal impact.

He noted that with the addition of these programmes, the total number of undergraduate programmes offered by the university has risen to 80.

He commended the efforts of the university's staff in securing the approval from the regulatory body.
