LUTH Post-Basic Nursing Admission Form 2026/2027

Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, has opened admission into its Post-Basic Nursing programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The programmes are one-year specialist nursing courses for registered nurses who seek further clinical training across selected areas of nursing practice.

What Is the LUTH Post-Basic Nursing Admission About?

The LUTH Post-Basic Nursing admission form is for registered nurses seeking specialist training at Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

The Post-Basic Nursing School is over 50 years old, has strong pass rates in national nursing examinations and has produced more than 3,000 skilled nurses across Nigeria.

Which Post-Basic Nursing Programmes Are Available?

Applicants may apply for any of the eight one-year, 12-month, Post-Basic Nursing programmes listed for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The available programmes are:

• Perioperative Nursing Programme
• Accident and Emergency Nursing Programme
• Paediatrics Nursing Programme
• Ophthalmic Nursing Programme
• Neonatal Nursing Programme
• Nephrology Nursing Programme
• Critical Care Nursing Programme
• Dental Nursing Programme

Each programme combines classroom lessons with practical training and candidates will be prepared for specialist nursing roles in hospitals and clinics.

Who Can Apply for LUTH Post-Basic Nursing Admission?

Candidates applying for any of the Post-Basic Nursing programmes will be required to hold a valid Registered Nurse, RN, qualification.

Applicants must also have the required O'Level credits, a current practising licence from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, NMCN and at least one year of post-RN work experience.

What O'Level Requirements Apply?

Applicants must have five O'Level credits, including English Language, Mathematics and Biology.

Candidates who qualified from 2006 onward must also have Physics and Chemistry.

Is an NMCN Licence Required?

A current practising licence from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, NMCN, is required.

Applicants should ensure that the licence is valid before the online application is completed, since the requirement is part of the stated admission conditions.

Is Work Experience Required?

Applicants must have at least one year of post-RN work experience.

This requirement applies to candidates seeking admission into any of the listed Post-Basic Nursing programmes.

How Will Candidates Apply for LUTH Post-Basic Nursing Admission?

Candidates will be expected to apply through the LUTH schools admission portal and select the school of interest for detailed information.

The application process is as follows:

1. Visit the LUTH schools admission portal.
2. Click the school of interest.
3. Read the admission requirements before creating an account.
4. Complete the account creation form with correct information.
5. Supply a functional email address and phone contacts.
6. Check the email address used during registration for login details.
7. Follow the payment guide sent by email.
8. Return to the portal after payment.
9. Click "Login" at the top right corner.
10. Log in with the user ID sent through email.
11. Complete the application form for the desired programme.

Applicants should enter correct contact details during account creation, since login details and payment information will be sent to the email address supplied.

How Will Payment Be Made?

After account creation, an email containing the applicant's login details will be sent to the email address provided.

The email will contain information on how payment will be made immediately or within 24 hours. Failure to make payment within that period will require the applicant to re-register.

What Happens If an Applicant Wants to Pay Immediately?

Applicants who wish to pay immediately will see a "Make payment" prompt after account creation.

The applicant will be redirected to the Remita website for payment and a Remita Retrieval Reference, RRR, code generated when the account was created will be attached. Different payment methods are supported on the Remita platform.

What Should Applicants Do After Payment?

After successful payment, applicants should return to the LUTH schools admission portal and click "Login" at the top right corner.

They will log in with the user ID sent through email, then complete the application form for the desired programme.

What Must Applicants Print After Application?

Applicants must print out their completed online application biodata in colour.

The coloured biodata form will be sent to the applicant's email after completion of the application and shortlisted candidates will be required to present it during the entrance examinations.

When Will the Application Close?

The application will close 12 weeks from the date of publication.

Candidates should note that the actual closing date depends on the publication date of the admission notice, so the application should be completed within the stated 12-week window.
