NHEF has opened applications for the 2026 Graduate Doctors Program for eligible post-housemanship doctors. The deadline is 23 March 2026.

- Orientation runs 7 to 11 July 2026 in Lagos State

The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation, NHEF, has opened applications for the 2026 NHEF Graduate Doctors Program.
The programme is a leadership and development initiative for post-housemanship doctors moving into full professional practice. NHEF says the programme offers a curated and immersive learning experience for early-career medical professionals; it is built to give participants the knowledge, perspective, and networks needed for work in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
Who can apply
The programme is open only to graduate medical doctors from NHEF partner universities:
- Ahmadu Bello University
- Bayero University
- University of Ibadan
- University of Lagos
- University of Nigeria
- University of Port Harcourt
Applicants must have completed housemanship.
Completion of NYSC is not mandatory. Doctors who have completed NYSC, those currently serving, and those yet to begin NYSC are all eligible to apply.
Applicants must also show a strong commitment to community service, philanthropy, and a desire to make a lasting impact in society.
Programme dates and venue
The application deadline is 23 March 2026 at 11:59 P.M. WAT.
The orientation timeline is from Tuesday, 7 July to Saturday, 11 July 2026.
The programme venue is Lagos State.
Arrival date is Tuesday, 7 July 2026.
Departure date is Sunday, 12 July 2026.
What successful candidates will receive
NHEF will cover travel, accommodation, and feeding costs for all successful candidates.
Selection into the programme is merit-based and highly competitive. Applicants are advised to answer all questions thoughtfully and thoroughly; that instruction is set out plainly.

- Curriculum Vitae, CV
- University graduation certificate
File format and labelling rules
All files must be uploaded in PDF format.
Applicants must ensure that documents are clear, legible, and properly labelled using this format:
- Full Name_CV
- Full Name_University Certificate
All required documents must be submitted before an application can be treated as complete.
Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
