The Teach4SDGs Programme, now in its fourth cohort for the year 2024, invites school educators to embark on a transformative 12-week intensive training journey. This programme is meticulously designed to enhance educators' grasp of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through an engaging curriculum that includes over 10 advanced workshops, comprehensive readings, assessments and practical projects.

About the Teach4SDGs Programme

The Teach4SDGs initiative aims to enrich primary and secondary teachers' understanding of the 17 SDGs and their specific targets. The training encompasses crucial areas such as Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Climate Change, Environmental Sustainability, Green Economy, Circular Economy and Sustainable Waste Management, alongside essential skills like Project Management and Technology Innovation for educators.

Programme Objectives

The primary goal of the Teach4SDGs is to provide educators with the necessary resources to inspire the next generation towards achieving a sustainable future. Participants will gain the knowledge, skills and tools required to effectively integrate SDG-based education into their existing curriculums, thereby fostering sustainable development, raising awareness and motivating action among students.

Eligibility Criteria

This programme is open to:

• All primary and secondary school teachers in public and private schools across Sub-Saharan African countries.
• Individuals who can commit at least 4 hours over two days each week for the duration of the training.
• Educators aged between 20 – 45 years.
• Those available to partake in virtual training and to conduct SDG activation projects in their schools.
• Teachers interested in becoming development and transformation agents, promoting student learning about the SDGs.
• Applicants are not required to have prior knowledge of the SDGs 2030.
