Who should attend the SIWES orientation
Attendance is compulsory for all students who are scheduled for this session's SIWES exercise.
Every student whose name appears on the SIWES list is expected to:
- Be present at LT 026 for the full session
- Pay attention to all guidance from CILPU staff
- Take note of rules that will guide conduct during the SIWES period
Since attendance will be recorded, missing the event may affect a student's standing on the SIWES programme.
Why the SIWES briefing matters for students
SIWES is an important training period that links classroom learning with real work settings in industry and public service. This orientation helps students to:
- Understand basic expectations for conduct during SIWES
- Hear key points on record keeping and reporting
- Learn how to contact CILPU if issues arise while on placement
Students may find it helpful to come with a small notebook or digital device for short notes, so that no key point is missed.
How attendance will be recorded
CILPU has made it clear that attendance at the orientation is compulsory.
Students should expect that:
- Attendance will be taken during the event
- Only students who attend will be marked present for this stage of the SIWES process
For this reason, students are encouraged to plan their day so that they can be seated before 9.00 a.m.
