UNN Postgraduate Form 2024/2025 ‹ How to Apply

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) invites applications for admission into postgraduate programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Programmes available include Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s Degrees, and Doctorate Degrees.

Entry Requirements

General Qualifications

• Applicants must have five credits in WASC, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB, including English Language, in not more than two sittings.
• Candidates must meet the basic entry requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in their chosen fields.
• Applicants must hold degrees from UNN or other recognised universities.

Specific Requirements

Postgraduate Diplomas

1. Eligibility:
   • Bachelor’s Degree holders with at least Third Class Honours and a minimum GPA of 1.9 on a 5-point scale.
   • HND holders with a minimum GPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale.
2. Special Cases:
   • Additional qualifications or relevant work experience may be required for some programmes.
   • Some programmes may require passing departmental tests.

Master’s Degree Programmes

1. Eligibility:
   • Bachelor’s Degree holders with at least Second Class Honours and a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 5-point scale.
   • Postgraduate Diploma holders with at least a Credit Pass and a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.
   • Specific fields may require relevant work experience.

Doctorate (Ph.D.) Programmes

1. Eligibility:
   • Master’s Degree holders with a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale.
   • Applicants with research-focused Master’s Degrees are preferred.

Programme Duration

• Postgraduate Diploma (Full-Time): Minimum of 2 semesters.
• Master’s Degree (Full-Time): Minimum of 3 semesters.
• Doctorate Degree (Full-Time): Minimum of 6 semesters.

Part-time durations are longer for all programmes.

Application Procedure

1. Visit the UNN Portal (https://unnportal.unn.edu.ng/).
2. Generate an invoice for the application fee of ₦26,700 through the Remita platform.
3. Complete payment online or at a bank.
4. Fill the application form online and upload all required documents in JPEG format.
5. Provide valid email addresses for referees.

Submission of Transcripts

Applicants must request transcripts from their previous institutions to be sent directly to:

Transcripts must arrive no later than 1 August 2025 for applications to be processed.

Additional Notes

• NYSC Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion Certificates must be attached.
• Certificates labelled “To Whom It May Concern” will not be accepted.
