WAEC GCE 2025 Second Series Result Released

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates.
In a statement issued on Monday, WAEC's Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, said overall performance fell by 11.47 percentage points compared to 2024.

Key Performance Figures From WAEC
WAEC reported that 42.17% of candidates obtained credit passes in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. In 2024, 53.64% achieved the same benchmark. In 2023, the figure stood at 44.29%.
Out of 65,752 candidates who sat for the examination, 27,727 secured five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
WAEC also stated that private candidates' results should not be directly compared with those of school candidates; private candidates sit outside the formal school system.
At Least Five Credits, With or Without English and Maths
The analysis further showed that 33,989 candidates (51.69%) obtained at least five credit passes, with or without English Language and Mathematics.
Registration, Attendance and Centres
A total of 69,604 candidates registered for the examination, representing a 1.8% increase compared to 2024.
From that number, 65,752 candidates sat the exam in 370 centres nationwide.
Results Processing Status
WAEC disclosed that 61,943 candidates (94.21%) have had their Results fully processed and released.
Another 3,809 candidates (5.79%) still have some subjects being processed due to errors linked to them; WAEC said work is ongoing to complete the processing.
Results Withheld Over Alleged Malpractice
WAEC stated that 1,899 candidates (2.89%) have had their results withheld over alleged examination malpractice.
The council said investigations are ongoing and affected candidates will be informed once decisions are made.
Gender Breakdown From WAEC's Report
WAEC reported 32,005 candidates (48.68%) as male and 33,747 candidates (51.32%) as female.
Among candidates who obtained five credits including English Language and Mathematics, 13,416 were male and 14,311 were female.
Certificates and Result Access
WAEC advised candidates to check their results online and access digital copies of their certificates. The council added that hard copies can also be requested through its certificate portal.
How Candidates Can Check WAEC GCE 2025 Second Series Results
Candidates who sat the examination should follow this procedure to check their results:
- Candidates should log on to the WAEC Direct result checker.
- Candidates should enter the examination number.
- Candidates should select the examination year as 2025.
- Candidates should select examination type as PRIVATE CANDIDATES.
- Candidates should enter the PIN and serial number.
- Candidates should click submit to view the result.
