The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Senate has praised six staff members for their recognition as part of the world’s top 2% scientists, as identified by Stanford University and Elsevier.

This commendation came during the 540th Regular Senate meeting on 26 September 2024.

This year’s achievement marks an improvement from the 2023 list, which had four staff members.

University’s Other Achievements

In addition to recognising its top scientists, the Senate acknowledged several other accomplishments.

The university won 3rd place in the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) National Essay Competition, a first for ABU.

The Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology also received a donation of two million Naira from an alumnus.

The Bankole Olumide Scholarship award was another highlight for the institution.

Honouring Excellence in Academia

The Senate further celebrated the recognition of Prof. Clara L. Ejembi by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, with a prize named in her honour.

Several staff members were also promoted to the ranks of Professor and Reader/Principal Research Fellow during the meeting.

These achievements highlight ABU’s continued commitment to academic excellence and global recognition.
