Leadership Transition at EKSU
Governor Bioduna Oyebanji approved the appointment of Professor Ayodele, who is a seasoned academic and administrator.
Before this appointment, Professor Ayodele served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of EKSU.
He succeeds Professor Edward Olanipekun, whose tenure as Vice-Chancellor ends on August 19, 2024.
Who is Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele?
Born on August 13, 1963, in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Professor Ayodele has a rich academic background.
He attended Annunciation School, Ikere-Ekiti, from 1974 to 1979.
He then proceeded to Ondo State College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, where he earned his Nigeria Certificate in Education between 1982 and 1985.
In 1992, he obtained a First Class Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree in Economics from Ondo State University, now known as Ekiti State University.
He furthered his education at the University of Ibadan, earning a Masterβs degree in Education Management in 1997 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Management in 2000.
Academic Career and Contributions
Professor Ayodele began his academic career as a Graduate Assistant at Ondo State University (now EKSU) in 1995.
He steadily rose through the ranks, achieving the position of Professor in 2012.
He has served in various capacities at EKSU, including:
- Assistant Director, Affiliate Programmes (2006-2008)
- Acting Head, Department of Educational Foundations and Management (2010-2012)
- Dean, Faculty of Education (2018-2020)
- Director, Directorate of Continuing Education Programmes/Distance Learning (2020-2022)
- Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) (2022 to date)

Governor Oyebanji, the Visitor to the University, has expressed confidence in Professor Ayodele’s ability to lead EKSU to greater heights.
He urged the new Vice-Chancellor to use his experience to further reposition EKSU as a world-class institution.
