- NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate

Master’s Degree (Academic and Professional)
Master’s programmes run as both full-time and part-time. All Master’s options include coursework.
- Duration:
- Full-time: minimum 4 semesters, maximum 6 semesters
- Part-time: minimum 6 semesters, maximum 11 semesters
- Basic entry rules:

Graduates of Federal University Lokoja or any other recognised university with:
- At least Second Class Division or equivalent in a relevant Bachelor’s degree
- Or a university degree plus a relevant Postgraduate Diploma from FULOKOJA or another recognised university, with at least a credit pass
- Candidates with Third Class Bachelor’s degree plus a relevant Postgraduate Diploma
- Candidates with unclassified degrees with average grade “C” or 50 and above
- Such candidates may be asked to sit for qualifying tests
- Five relevant O’ Level credits, including:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate
- Candidates may be required to sit for a Departmental examination to test readiness for postgraduate study

- Pharmacy

- Or Upper Credit in PGD Microbiology from:

Master’s programmes under the Centre for Safety Management

- Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in any of these or related fields:

- Environmental Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Health Sciences
- Management Sciences
- Or PGD in:

- Risk Management
- Related safety or environment fields
from a recognised higher education body
- At least two years of professional work in a safety-related field is desirable
- Membership of a recognised professional safety body is an added advantage, but not compulsory
Master’s programmes under the Institute for Gender Studies (IGS)
Entry rules:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower in:
- Gender Studies
- Social Sciences
- Humanities
- Related fields
- Relevant work experience in gender-focused work is an added advantage
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Duration:
- Minimum: 6 semesters
- Maximum: 10 semesters
PhD students may be asked to take some relevant courses, and every candidate must submit a thesis at the end of the programme.
