Top UTME 2023 Scorers Revealed by JAMB - Meet the Champions

Miss Umeh Kamsiyochukwu Nkechinyere from Anambra state has been declared as the top candidate in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Nkechinyere scored 360 and plans to study Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos. Aguele Stephen Oseruha from Edo State, with a score of 358, was named the second-best candidate, followed closely by Ositade Oluwafemi Anthony from Ogun State, who also scored 358. The announcement was made by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the 2023 Policy Meeting in Abuja.

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME Top Scorers

In a recent revelation, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) disclosed the top performers in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Miss Umeh Kamsiyochukwu Nkechinyere from Anambra state emerged as the best candidate, while Aguele Stephen Oseruha from Edo State took second place.

Anambra State Student Tops the Chart

Nkechinyere, who sat for the examination in Ogun State, secured the highest score of 360 out of a possible 400. A prospective student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), she aspires to study Chemical Engineering. Her remarkable performance has been well-received and adds to the growing evidence of academic excellence among Nigerian students.

Second Place: Edo State’s Bright Spark

Aguele Stephen Oseruha, also showing immense academic prowess, scored 358 to earn the position of the second-best candidate in the 2023 UTME. He sat for the examination in his home state, Edo, and has applied to the University of Benin (UNIBEN) where he intends to study Computer Engineering.

A Tie for the Third Position

In a surprising turn of events, the third position was tightly contested and resulted in a tie. Ositade Oluwafemi Anthony from Ogun State, who also took the examination in Ogun State, managed to score an impressive 358, identical to the second-best score. Like Oseruha, Anthony is looking forward to studying Computer Engineering and has chosen the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as his preferred institution.

An Official Disclosure

The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made these disclosures during the 2023 Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Saturday. The meeting, which consisted of the heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, deliberated and decided on the criteria for the 2023 admission into all tertiary institutions.
