University of Benin (UNIBEN) Academic Calendar for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benin City, has released the official academic calendar for full-time undergraduate students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The schedule outlines key academic and administrative activities for both semesters, helping students and staff plan ahead for a smooth academic year.

UNIBEN Academic Calendar – First Semester (15 Weeks)

Monday, 10 November 2025: Online clearance and registration begin for newly admitted students.
Sunday, 16 November 2025: Fresh students move into halls of residence.
Thursday, 20 November 2025: Course registration begins (6 weeks).
Monday, 24 November 2025: Lectures begin across all faculties.
Wednesday, 17 December 2025: Orientation for new students.
Monday, 22 December 2025: Students begin Christmas break.
Sunday, 4 January 2026: Students return to hostels.
Monday, 5 January – Friday, 6 March 2026: Lectures continue.
Monday, 9 – Friday, 13 March 2026: Revision week.
Monday, 16 – Friday, 20 March 2026: Faculty examinations begin.
Saturday, 21 March 2026: CED examinations.
Monday, 23 March – Thursday, 2 April 2026: Examinations continue in other faculties, schools and institutes.
Thursday, 2 April 2026: End of first semester; students vacate hostels.

UNIBEN Academic Calendar – Second Semester (15 Weeks)

Sunday, 12 April 2026: Students return to hostels.
Monday, 13 April 2026: Lectures resume across all faculties.
Friday, 10 July 2026: Lectures end.
Monday, 13 – Friday, 17 July 2026: Revision week.
Monday, 20 – Friday, 24 July 2026: Faculty examinations begin.
Saturday, 25 July 2026: CED examinations.
Monday, 27 July – Friday, 7 August 2026: Examinations continue.
Saturday, 8 August 2026: GST examinations.
Sunday, 9 August 2026: End of session; students vacate hostels.
Monday, 10 – Monday, 24 August 2026: Marking and grading of scripts.
Monday, 31 August – Monday, 7 September 2026: Departmental boards meet to consider and release provisional results.
Monday, 7 – Monday, 14 September 2026: Faculty boards of studies review results.
Monday, 14 – Friday, 18 September 2026: Business committee of senate meets to consider results.
Monday, 21 September 2026: Senate meeting to approve final year results and commence online registration for the 2026/2027 academic session.

20 March 2026: Eid El-Fitr
3 April 2026: Good Friday
6 April 2026: Easter Monday
1 May 2026: Workers' Day
27–28 May 2026: Id El-Kabir
12 June 2026: Democracy Day
17 June 2026: Al-Hijra
26 August 2026: Id El-Maulud
1 October 2026: Independence Day
