The University of Ilorin has opened the 2025/2026 postgraduate admission.
The application covers diploma, master, M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes.
The session begins on 2 October and ends on 30 September of the next year.
You must check the list of available courses before applying.
You are advised to print and study the advert before starting.
The university will not take blame for any mistake during application.
Each programme has a set duration and fixed deadlines.
You must apply early and follow all instructions.
Types of Postgraduate Courses Offered
Ph.D. Courses
- For students with Master’s degrees (M.A., M.Ed., M.Eng., M.Sc., LL.M, or M.P.H.).
- Students must score at least 60% or CGPA of 4 points out of 5.
- Duration: full-time (36–60 months) or part-time (48–72 months).
- Research needed to complete degree.
M.Phil./Ph.D. Courses
- Students scoring 55–59.99% or CGPA of 3.5–3.99 can apply.
- Duration: full-time (12–24 months).
- Students may move up to Ph.D. if scoring 60% after one year.
M.Phil. Courses
- For students scoring 50–54.99% or CGPA of 3–3.49.
- Duration: full-time (18–24 months).
- Students complete with research project.
Master’s Degrees (M.A., M.Ed., M.Eng., M.Sc., LL.M, M.P.H.)

- Full-time: 18–24 months.
- Part-time: 36–48 months.
- Students finish after coursework and research.
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
- For students with third-class degrees.
- Students complete diploma after coursework.
Who Can Apply for UNILORIN Postgraduate Courses?
To apply, students must meet the rules listed:
- Have certificates ready when applying.
- Present National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption by 30th September 2025.
- Upload scanned copies of all papers online.
- Send printed forms and papers to the chosen department before 6th June 2025.
- Transcripts should go straight to the department (UNILORIN not responsible for lost papers).
Rules for O-level Results
- Applicants must have five credits including Maths and English.
- For results before 2015, students may pass English or Maths.
Rules for Master’s Degrees
- Students must hold at least second-class lower degrees from UNILORIN or approved universities.
- Students may apply outside their first degree area but must pass an extra test.
Rules for Ph.D. Degrees
- Students must hold Master’s degrees with 60% score or 4.0 CGPA out of 5.
- Departments interview chosen students.
International Students
- Students from non-English-speaking countries must provide TOEFL or IELTS scores.
- Students outside Nigeria do not need extra tests.
Qualifying Exam
- PGD and Master’s students must pass an exam.
- UNILORIN students with first-class or second-class upper (same course) do not need this exam.
How Much is the UNILORIN Postgraduate Form?
- Nigerian students pay N25,000.
- International students pay $200.

- Send all documents by Friday, 6th June 2025.
- Qualifying exam date is Saturday, 21st June 2025.
