University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar, has warned the public about fake admission offers linked to fraudsters who pose as representatives of the hospital.
Management said some individuals and criminal groups have been using the name of UCTH to mislead members of the public. Their aim is clear; they issue false admission offers and ask prospective students to pay money into bank accounts that UCTH has not approved.
UCTH Warning to Prospective Students
The hospital said it does not handle admission through agents or third parties.
That point matters.
Anyone who receives an admission message from a person claiming to act for UCTH should verify the claim through approved channels before making any move. The hospital also stated that it does not accept payment into personal bank accounts or any account that the public cannot verify.
Approved Admission and Payment Channels
All admission and payment details must come through the official channels stated on the College of Nursing Sciences or School of Health Information Management fliers.
Applicants should check those details with care.
A genuine notice should match the approved channel linked to the relevant school, and any request for payment into a strange account should raise concern at once.
What the Public Should Do
UCTH advised the public to verify every admission message and ignore suspicious posts, calls or chats.
Prospective students should also avoid paying money into unknown accounts, even where the message sounds urgent or carries the name of the hospital. Fraudsters often rely on pressure, but a careful check can prevent loss.
UCTH Liability Notice
University of Calabar Teaching Hospital stated that it will not accept liability for any loss that comes from dealings with fraudsters, fake agents or unverified payment channels.
That means applicants must confirm each step before they pay.
