The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has warned all Prospective Corps Members ahead of the next orientation camp to fix any name mismatch before reporting.
In a notice seen on its X page on Tuesday, the scheme said any PCM whose name on a certificate or statement of result does not match exactly with the name uploaded on the NYSC portal must contact their institution at once.
That warning was direct; the names must tally perfectly before camp.
What NYSC said
NYSC stated:
“Important Notice: Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) whose names in their certificates or statement of results is not exactly the same with the name uploaded to the NYSC portal should contact their Institutions to ensure the name tallies before reporting to camp.”
The message leaves little room for guesswork. A difference in the name on school records and the name on the portal can lead to trouble during camp registration.
What counts as a name mismatch
NYSC officials stressed that even small differences will not be accepted at camp registration.
These issues include:
- spelling differences
- wrong order of names
- a missing middle name
- extra initials
A tiny error may look harmless on paper; at camp, it can become a real problem.
What PCMs should do now
Any PCM affected by this notice should compare the name on the certificate or statement of result with the name uploaded on the NYSC portal.
Where the names do not match exactly, the next step is clear: the PCM should contact their institution and get the record corrected before going to camp.
