UNIABUJA notice to graduands for combined convocation ceremony

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has released a notice to graduands for its 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony.

The notice sets out the approved charges for hiring convocation gowns, buying convocation proceedings, and collecting certificates. It also gives payment instructions, gown collection details, procession time, return deadline, and a few Security rules.

Convocation ceremony date

The notice states the convocation ceremony date as:

Friday 10 to Saturday 18 April 2026

Convocation gown hiring charges

Graduands are to pay the approved amount for gown hire based on their programme.

First Degree

N5,000.00

Postgraduate Diploma

N7,000.00

Master’s Degree

N10,000.00

Doctorate Degree

N15,000.00

The approved charges for convocation proceedings are as follows:

Payment method for all items

The University states that collection of any item is subject to evidence of payment of the stipulated amount.

All payments are to be made in favour of the University of Abuja through the REMITA platform.

Date for collection of academic gowns

Collection of academic gowns begins on 10 April 2026.

Graduands are to collect their gowns at their respective Faculties, Centres, Directorates, and Schools.

Procession time and entry deadline

Graduands are to assemble in front of the Senate Building at 8:30am for the procession.

The notice adds a firm warning; no graduand will be allowed into the Convocation Ground after 9:00am.

Deadline for returning academic gowns

Academic gowns must be returned not later than 6:00pm on Monday, 21 April 2026.

Late return will attract a surcharge of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) per day.

Security notice for graduands and guests

The University states that luggage and bags will not be allowed into the Convocation arena.

It also says the car sticker provided should be pasted on vehicles for easy direction of guests to designated parking lots by University safety personnel.
