The Management of the Distance Learning Centre, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, ABU DLC, has issued a formal disclaimer on the activities of unauthorised persons and groups operating fraudulent offices across Nigeria.
These persons and groups are said to be presenting themselves as accredited study centres of ABU DLC. Management stated that ABU DLC does not own, operate, or recognise any study centre anywhere in Nigeria. It also stated that no person or entity has been licensed to establish such centres on its behalf.
That message is direct; the Centre wants students and applicants to deal only with approved channels.
What ABU DLC said about admissions and registration
Management advised the general public not to take part in any admission, screening, or registration exercise outside approved locations.
Admission and registration should only take place at the main Centre in Zaria, designated Liaison Offices, or specific examination centres officially communicated by Management.
Warning on payments to third parties
ABU DLC also warned against any payment discussion or money transfer involving third parties.
The Centre asked the public not to remit funds to any individual or entity claiming to act for ABU DLC. That point stands Clear enough; no payment should go to unofficial hands.
Warning on examination and study centre arrangements
Management also cautioned the public against entering into any arrangement or agreement with any person or group concerning examination or study centres under the ABU DLC name.
The Centre said it has not given approval for such dealings.
ABU DLC position on student support services
The Centre also stated that it has not authorised any person or group to provide student support services on its behalf.
This includes printing of course materials, help with assignments, and any other form of support service linked to ABU DLC.
Risk warning from the Centre
Management stated that any person who engages in any of the listed activities does so entirely at their own risk.
That warning covers dealings with fake offices, unofficial payments, unauthorised registration points, and similar claims made in the name of ABU DLC.
Where to report suspicious claims
Management urged everyone to remain vigilant.
Any suspicious claim or activity should be reported at once to the nearest ABU DLC Liaison Office or directly to the Centre in Zaria.
