Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, has released the schedule for a full week of academic and commemorative activities. The line-up covers Founder's Day, the 4th Memorial Lecture, an interdenominational service, the convocation lecture and the 16th Convocation Ceremony for undergraduate and postgraduate graduands.
COOU Releases Dates for Convocation Week 2026
The activities will run from Tuesday, 21 April 2026, to Saturday, 25 April 2026. Each event has a fixed date, time, speaker or activity detail and venue; students, graduands and guests will want the full line-up in one place.

Press conference
The week opens with a press conference on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, at 12:00 pm.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Omenugha, fnipr, will address the press at the Vice-Chancellor's Conference Room, Igbariam Campus.
Founder's Day and 4th Memorial Lecture
COOU will hold Founder's Day and the 4th Memorial Lecture on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at 10:00 am.
His Excellency Mr. Gautier Mignot, European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, will deliver the lecture at the ETF Auditorium, Igbariam Campus. The theme is "Sustainable and Climate Resilience Future: Beyond Rhetorics."
Interdenominational service and Students Day
The next event comes up on Thursday, 23 April 2026, at 10:00 am.
The day will feature a special service and student engagement with the Vice-Chancellor at the ETF Auditorium, Igbariam Campus. It is a clear part of the week's formal programme; the date and venue are already fixed.
Convocation lecture
The convocation lecture will take place on Friday, 24 April 2026, at 10:00 am.
His Excellency Mr. Michal Cygan, the Polish Ambassador in Nigeria, will deliver the lecture at the ETF Auditorium, Igbariam Campus. The theme announced for the lecture is "Building Minds and Bridges for Shared Prosperity."
16th convocation ceremony
The 16th Convocation Ceremony will hold on Saturday, 25 April 2026, at 11:00 am.
